Commonly treated conditions
Tonsilitis: It is an inflammation or infection of the tonsils. It can be caused by common cold, strep throat or mono. Its symptoms are inflamed and swollen tonsils, sore throat, white or yellow patches on the tonsils, problem in swallowing, stiff neck, fever, bad breath, headache, and swollen lymph nodes on sides of neck. If tonsilitis continues for long, the tonsils may have to be removed surgically by a procedure called tonsillectomy.
Sleep Apnoea: It is an obstruction in breathing while sleeping. Its symptoms are snoring, fatigue, episodes of snoring and gasping during sleep, headaches, depression, waking up with a dry or sore throat, and waking up multiple times in the night. It can be treated by continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP), adopting lifestyle changes or if there are abnormalities in the airway, ENT surgery.
Ear Infections: Upon entry of germs into the air and becoming trapped there, ear infections occur. They may also occur due to accumulation of fluid or mucus due to an allergy or a previous infection which leads to growth of bacteria or viruses in the ear. The symptoms of ear infections are pain, loss of hearing, balance problems and drainage from ear.
Sinus Infections: It is an infection or inflammation of the sinuses. Its symptoms are headache, runny nose, sneezing and coughing, bad breath, pain around the eyes, and toothaches.
